Beypore is one of the oldest ports on the Malabar coast, long renowned for its centuries-old craft of building urus — massive wooden dhows still made by hand at its shipyards. It's a rewarding blend of heritage, sea and local life just south of Kozhikode.
What to Expect
The highlight is the Beypore Seawalk — a breakwater bridge stretching about a kilometre into the sea, perfect for a breezy stroll and sunset views. You can watch uru craftsmen at work, take boat or speedboat rides, and sample roadside Malabar snacks.
Good to Know
About 10 km from the city, the beach is open access (free). Evenings and sunset are the best time; parking can get hectic at peak hours.
