Kozhikode Beach
About this place
Calicut's lively main city beach, famous for sunsets, a long food street, an old lighthouse and pier, and family rides — right in the heart of Kozhikode.
The City's Favourite Shore
Kozhikode Beach (Calicut Beach) is the city's most popular seafront and a much-loved evening hangout. Steps from SM Street (Mittai Theruvu), it combines a long sandy shoreline with heritage touches like old piers and a lighthouse.
What to Expect
Evenings come alive with a bustling food street serving Malabar snacks, plus camel and boat rides, a giant wheel and stalls for families. The sunset over the Arabian Sea is the big draw, while early mornings are calm and good for a quiet walk.
Good to Know
Open access and free, it's in the city centre (~2 km from the railway station). It gets very crowded in the evenings, and cleanliness can be patchy in parts.
