Edele Hotel

About
An iconic since-1930 eatery in Kuttichira, famous for authentic Kerala non-veg breakfast and legendary beef — especially the pazhampori-beef combo, puttu with beef, and porotta with beef roast.
A Calicut Beef Institution Since 1930
Edele Hotel is a small, humble, family-run eatery in Kuttichira, near the Mishkal Mosque and Kuttichira pond, that has been serving traditional Kerala food since 1930. Run by three brothers, it's a no-frills, deeply local spot that has built a legendary reputation for its beef and authentic Malabar breakfast.
What to Order
The signatures are the pazhampori-beef combo (banana fritters with beef) and puttu with beef, along with porotta and beef roast, uppuma, idiyappam, appam, beef fry, beef chilli and beef stew — all freshly prepared, finished with their famously strong, sweet coffee. On Fridays, a legendary beef biriyani is served after prayers and typically sells out fast.
The Experience
Expect an early start (it opens before dawn), a tiny space seating under 30, and long morning queues — many regulars grab a parcel and eat by the nearby Kuttichira pond. It's authentic, cheap and iconic, best enjoyed with managed expectations about the crowds and no parking.
